Mrs. Evelyn Duffy
Title One is a federally and locally funded program that gives financial assistance to schools. Title One students are provided with a program specifically designed to improve areas of reading such as comprehension, phonics, and fluency. Students placed in Title One work one:one or in small groups. Sometimes services occur in the classroom during Language Arts time.
Students continue in the Title One program until it is determined that services are no longer needed. This is determined by reaching certain goals on standardized tests and/or adequate progress in the classroom.
Parents play a very necessary role in the Title One program. One of the most important things you can do is read with your child every day. When parents read with their children, they provide them with the necessary tools to become successful students and lifelong learners.
I encourage you to call or email me if you have any questions about the program or if I can give you suggestions on ways that you can help your child at home with his or her reading.
